Bolsa Chica Wetlands with Blackberry Phone

I shot this photo with my blackberry.  It has been said before: The best camera is the one you have with you at the time.

Everyone Has A Camera

Everyone has a camera: Everyone then is a photographer, obviously.

I don't know who coined this phrase, but I will share it with out attribution – sorry.

“You can buy a camera, and they will call you a photographer. But, buy a piano, and you just own a piano”. – Unknown

Bolsa Chica Wetlands

The Bolsa Chica Wetlands: Encroached

I am working on a new project. Bolsa Chica wetland is a small area flanked by homes, oil wells and Pacific Coast Hwy. It is just fascinating to me how many times I drove by this area and never stopped. Well one day I did and I could not believe all the activity. I think it was the end of July of 2009 that I made my first visit: then I was drawn in. This little place, Bolsa Chica, seems to be fighting off development while also reclaiming the remaining oil fields.

Radiology Art

I thought I should share this unique type of photographic artwork.

Artist and medical student Satre Stuelke founded the Radiology Art project to explore the hidden contents and structures of everyday things.

You have to check out this site.  He has put toys, food and electronics under the rays of a CT scanner and bombarded with image-generating radiation to analyze the structure of objects.

Pick your wave…

[How many times can I use the word “wave?”]

Our world is dictated by cycles. A further way to think of a cycle is a wave. Waves are all around us; we have sine waves, electromagnetic waves, acoustic waves and if you chart out the amount of sun spots on the sun over a 33 year period you will notice three waves. Why do I bring up this idea of waves? I think everything is made up of waves or vibrations – if you will. We are all are familiar with the way fads, trends and a like; ebb and flow. Well, business is not excluded; it also has its own “business cycle.” Individually, we can not control the way the business cycle operates. We can, however, control the way we adapt and react to the cycles; just like a surfer in the waves.

Surfers have to take the waves as they come. They can’t control the frequency, size or the length. Surfers can only change what is in their control. Complaining or panicking will not help. They, however, can do the following: prepare, condition and position; to take advantage of the sets of waves. Just like the surfer, we in business must adapt to the circumstances set before us.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be and so goes each cycle. Each cycle is similar but not exactly the same as the last. If past is prologue; this dip in business activity will pass. The only question is how soon and what incarnation. OK – one more cliché: it’s not a matter of “if,” it’s a matter of “when” this cycle will rebound.

Well that's the way I see it.

[Wave = 13 - I think?]

My comments:

One of my shots that was in used in the Orange County Register and used in a blog.  Not sure how I feel about the other blog using my photo with out my permission.  At the least the blog did give me credit, but would have been better with a link to my website.

First Post

Well... hello:

Everyone seems to have a blog these days and I want to be part of the wave. I hope it's not too late.

I also want to challenge myself to do some writing. I am not saying that my posts are going to be great literature with a lot of insights to the human condition. I just want to become a better writer; to augment my photography.  Writing helps to really get you to think about what you're thinking about.

My web site is at http://www.tonysanchez-photo.com/ , check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanks - Talk to you soon.
